with you...every step of the way

New Patients

Welcome to our practice! We are so pleased that you have chosen our practice to care for your children. We hope that our website will provide you with any needed information, but if you have any unanswered questions, please feel free to call us.

Meet the Pedi Nights
We set aside time to meet prospective patients every month. Meet the Pedi Night is held in our office every 2nd Tuesday at 5:30 pm in suite 220. We introduce ourselves briefly and then open the floor to any and all questions. This is a great opportunity to meet all of our physicians at one time. Parents looking for a new pediatrician, parents new to the area AND expectant parents are welcome. Attendance is free of charge, of course, and no RSVP is necessary.

(If you prefer a 1:1 consultation with one of our physicians, we can schedule this individually, but it is subject to a charge.)

Finding Us
Our  office is very conveniently located in the Seton Southwest Hospital complex, near the corner of Hwy 290 West and FM 1826, Suites 220 & 240. We are located on the 2nd floor of Building I, which is the building closest to the road.

Your First Appointment
Please provide us with your insurance information as early as possible, even when you set up your appointment if possible, so that we can verify your insurance in advance. This will help us minimize any waiting time for you while we verify the insurance. Please arrive at least 20 minutes early to your first to make sure everything is in order. For your convenience, we have provided a link (see above) to download and print all the forms you will need. Please bring the following with you to your appointment:

For Newborns: We do not require you to “register” with our practice until after your baby arrives. The staff caring for your baby in the hospital/birthing center will tell you when you need to make your first follow-up appointment, so you don’t need to call us until you know when that appointment is needed. Please call us Monday-Friday for newborn appointments; if you are discharged on a weekend, we will always have room for you on Monday if you need an appointment. Don’t worry! If you are discharged on a weekend, call us Monday morning and we will set up your appointment. If at all possible, bring the following with you:

  • Southwest Pediatrics New Patient forms
  • History and Physical from hospital/birthing center (generally 1-2 pages)
  • Newborn Screen form (1/3 sheet with pre-printed numbers on them)
  • Insurance Information
  • Photo ID

A Note on Vaccinations
We believe strongly that childhood vaccination is one of the most important things that we can do to keep your children healthy and well.  Prevention of disease is at the heart of what we do in Pediatrics.  To protect the children in our waiting rooms and to make it clear how strongly we feel about the safety and importance of childhood vaccinations, we do not accept patients whose parents decline routine vaccination unless medically contraindicated.   We are more than happy to discuss this policy with our patients; questions about individual vaccinations and the schedule in general are welcome.

A Note on Circumcisions
Choosing to circumcise or choosing to not circumcise is a very personal decision. Although it is primarily a cosmetic and/or cultural procedure, circumcision provides limited medical benefits including reduced incidence of urinary tract infection and some forms of cancer. As with any medical procedure, however, circumcision caries some risks, including risks of bleeding, infection and a poor cosmetic result. In the end, we support whichever choice you make without judgment or preference. If you choose to circumcise your son, we recommend it is performed in the hospital if at all possible; it is easier on the baby and easier on you. If this is not possible, however, any of our physicians can perform a circumcision in our office within the first 2 weeks of life. If a circumcision is needed, please inform the staff when you call to make the first appointment. We will set up a first visit to examine the baby & make sure things are going well. We can discuss the circumcision procedure, risks/ benefits and then set up a circumcision appointment within the next few days.
