Dr. Nicholas Wagner, MD, FAAP

Dr. Wagner has called Austin home for a decade, though with quite a few stops along the way.  He was born in Buffalo, NY, and by age 5, he moved to Lake Tahoe and learned to ski.  By age 10, he called Atlanta, GA home and forgot how to ski.

Dr. Wagner attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill were he studied biology, chemistry, and early 90’s Indie Rock.  He attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia and moved to Austin in 2008 to start his pediatric residency training at the Dell Children’s Hospital.  Dr. Wagner is Board Certified in Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and he has been a part of the Southwest Pediatrics family since 2011.

Early on in his education, Dr. Wagner knew he wanted to pursue Pediatrics.  As a primary care pediatrician with a drive to problem-solve alongside patients, Dr. Wagner enjoys partnering with families to help them reach their goals for their children, and seeing those children grow, thrive, and mature over the years they spend together.

Dr. Wagner and his wife – a fellow Tar Heel – live in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood of South Austin with their daughter Eleanor and wiry haired bearded mutt, Ivy.  Eleanor, who is named after her great grandmother back in Buffalo, and her dad carry on the family’s love for buffalo wings.  Eleanor gets most of her good qualities from her mom and her cheeks from her dad.  As a family, they like to bike around town, eat and drink at Austin’s best BBQ and taco joints, and check out new music when they can.  Though the path to Austin has been a winding one, Dr. Wagner looks forward to staying put in this great city and community for a long time to come.
